One Week Naked 3: 5 Day Looks

I decided to do the One Week Series with the newest Urban Decay Naked iteration, the Naked 3. I declared my love for this palette way before I even got my hands on it, because I’m stupid. And also, right! This is, by far, my favorite ‘Naked’. I always seem stumped when I try to make looks with it, gravitating to my favorite shades, but even if I feel a little clueless at first, the looks always turn out well.

(In my opinion anyway. Ha.)

Urban Decay Naked 3 - Pans

The Naked 3 has rose-toned neutrals, making it the softest and most romantic palette of all the Naked offerings. There is also kind of a subtle contrast when it comes to the shades, so the transitions can be quite soft and really gradual between most of them.

As an extra bit of “challenge,” I decided to make 5 looks using all of the different shades, so you can see the versatility of this palette. Don’t you find that there is always at least one color you never reach for? Well, let’s see how useable this palette really is.

DAY ONE; shades used: Burnout, Blackheart, Liar, Factory
OW Naked 3 - Face 1

Burnout is my main lid shade for this look, slowly fading into the deeper colors. I started with Liar in the outer third, but it turned out too light so I made it a transition between that and Factory, which I also eased into the outer crease. I added a bit of Blackheart for more intensity and depth in the outermost corner of the eye.

OW Naked 3 - Face 2

Rest of the makeup: Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder (Shade 2), & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil (Bouclé Greige), The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02), NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Urban Decay Naked 3, KATE Super Sharp Liner, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, NARS Powder Blush (Orgasm)

DAY TWO; shades used: Limit, Trick, Nooner, Factory
OW Naked 3 - 2 - Face 1

The main shade for this look is the beautiful Trick, which I blended into Factory. I used Limit as my transition shade, fading the shades up towards the brow bone, with Nooner adding just that perfect amount of depth and haze into the outer corner and crease.

Rest of the makeup: Céléteque Matte Moisturizer (SPF 30), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger), bareMinerals Original Foundation (Medium Beige), & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil (Bouclé Greige), The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette, NARS Powder Blush (Final Cut), NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, Urban Decay Naked 3, Happy Skin Eye Am Here to Stay Liquid Liner, Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara*, Tarte Pure Performance Glamazon Lipstick (Bold)

DAY THREE; shades used: Strange, Limit, Buzz, Nooner, Factory (no primer)
OW - UD Naked 3 - 3 - Face 1

I wanted to use Strange, so I used it as an all-over the lid shade (lid up to brow bone) and eased in Limit in the crease and Nooner in the outer corner of the lid. I added a bit of Buzz in the middle of the lid and Factory in the outer third, but the look remains subdued without a primer.

Rest of the makeup: Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Fit (Natural Beige)*, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24H (02), Inglot brow powder (569), Dolly Wink Liquid Liner (black), BECCA Ultimate Mascara (Black), Happy Skin Eye Am Here to Stay Gel Pencil Eyeliner (Peppermint), Human Nature Mineral Blush (Rosy Cheeks), Rouge Bunny Rouge Succulence of Dew Lipstick (Murmurings)

FACE FOUR; shades used: Dust, Buzz, Mugshot
OW - Naked 3 - 4 - Face 1

I attempted to use Dust, the flakiest, fall-outiest shade in Naked 3, but I made sure to apply it wet. Dust went all over the lid, fading into Mugshot in the outer third. I decided I wanted it more pink, so in the middle of the lid went Buzz.

OW - Naked 3 - 4 - Face 2

Rest of the makeup: The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, K-Palette Cover Control 0 Kuma Concealer (Type 2), bareMinerals Original Foundation (Medium Beige), & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil (Bouclé Greige), Inglot Eyebrow Powder (569), MAC Paint Pot (Painterly), Happy Skin Eye Am Here to Stay Liquid Liner, Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara*, Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte & Waterproof Bronzer (Park Avenue Princess), NARS x Pierre Hardy Blush (Boys Don’t Cry), KATE Rouge HD Lipstick (PK-17)

DAY FIVE; shades used: Trick, Darkside, Blackheart
OW - Naked 3 - 5 - Face 1

Patted on Trick all over the lid, smudging Darkside on the upper and lower lash lines, topping that off with Blackheart and finally resigning to the fact that I may never actually figure out how to do a “real” smoky eye.

OW - Naked 3 - 5 - Face 2

Rest of the makeup: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock*, Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder (Shade 2), & Other Stories Eyebrow Pencil (Bouclé Greige), The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02), Maybelline The Rocket Mascara*, Sleek Blush (Coral), NARS Satin Lip Pencil (Decanso)

Shade list & look used:

  • Strange: Day 3
  • Dust: Day 4
  • Burnout: Day 1
  • Limit: Day 2, 3
  • Buzz: Day 3, 4
  • Trick: Day 1, 5
  • Nooner: Day 2, 3
  • Liar: Day 1
  • Factory: 1, 2, 3
  • Mugshot: Day 4
  • Darkside: day 5
  • Blackheart: Day 1, 5

Yay, I succeeded in using all of the shades. I know there’s a lot more to this palette, though, so I’m working on another One Week series involving this palette, but for night looks instead. Oooh! Aaah! Maybe… Stay tuned. 🙂

I haven’t bought much makeup in the past month and a half (just 4 makeup items for myself), but I’ve been having a lot of fun with the stuff I do have, which is how it should be anyway. What’s your favorite way to wear this palette? Do share in the comments below!

    • Hiya! The first one was just shot in my dark bedroom (haha) and it’s lit with an LED bulb, I think, above my desk. The second one is just natural light! 🙂

      • Anything that isn’t natural light always messes with my white balance, urgh. Love the way you do it.

      • I usually tinker with the white balance straight from the camera. Do you use Photoshop to edit? You can readjust the colors if you use Bridge to open the photos (even jpegs) as RAW files!

  1. Dangit. Now you’ve actually made me want this palette when I thought I could do without it in my life. I own the original Naked palette and the problem with that is I always gravitate towards the same ‘everyday’ type shades over and over again because I’m too terrified to play with the gunmetal/dark blue shades. Naked 2 and 3 seem more suitable for a gal who wants less warm toned smokey eyes and more daytime appropriate shiz!

    • AH! That they are. That’s what I realized with the original Naked. Just too damn heavy and bronzey for me for daytime.

  2. You did such a great job at creating such unique looks each day 🙂 also props to actually doing makeup everday haha. Even though I blog about it, I honestly only wear it like maybe 4 times a week….I’m lazy.

    • Thank you! 🙂 I’m lucky that it’s still fun for me to play with a bunch of different looks 😀
