Make That Face Monday: One-Shadow Smoky Eye Using LMdB Alexandrite

Alexandrite is the first and only eyeshadow single from Le Métier de Beauté that I ever bought, and for the longest time, I wished that I had gotten a more sensible color, like the often celebrated Corinthian. I bought it during my “purple shadow phase,” which I am not completely out of but am moving slowly away from. Recently, however, I realized that I can actually use Alexandrite, a pretty red-toned violet with a bit of a golden sheen (as far as I can tell), for a one-shadow smoky eye. But more on that later. As for Alexandrite, it has a wonderful, smooth texture that is also apparent upon application. It’s not incredibly pigmented on the first layer, but it’s very easy to work with and it’s a dream to layer and blend. The Le Métier de Beauté single eyeshadows come housed in a rubberized circular compact, with a texture that’s more similar to the NARS compacts than the LMdB Kaleidoscopes that I’m more used to. Each shadow has a mirror on the lid, and …

#MakeupMonday with Candy TV: Neutral Smoky Eye Tutorial

Candy Magazine, which is a local glossy geared for teen girls asked me to do a tutorial for their website. As part of Makeup Monday, I present to you an easy peasy neutral smoky eye using the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette! This look is for people who are a bit scared of a blacky black smoky eye. It’s also tame enough to use everyday, and the colors are pretty easy to dupe and the effect easy to replicate with other similar colors in your collection. Click here to watch the video. 🙂 Thanks to Candy for the opportunity!

Make That Face Monday: Easy Smokey Eye with NARS Duo in Dogon

Hello everyone! Today, I have a very quick review on a NARS eyeshadow duo called Dogon, and I figured I could make it a tutorial for a super easy smokey eye, too. I told you, I’d try! 😀 So, first of all, Dogon is supposedly a limited edition NARS duo from the Summer 2011 collection, but I still see it for sale everywhere, including the NARS website. It has a metallic taupe shade with an icy green sheen, and a charcoal black shade. I rather like this duo; I think I’m a sucker for duochromes and different-sheeny shades. The quality is OK; the taupe is really, really pretty, but the charcoal matte may apply patchily on the lid without a base (cream shadow or primer), or if you try to blend it out too much. Still, layering the shades over each other creates a lovely effect. Look at that pretty shimmery, sheeny green in the Venn Diagram intersection of both shades. This is a really pretty duo that I think you can make a lot …

Make That Face Monday: Day to Night Eyes with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

OK, so here’s a commitment I’d like to make: tutorial every few Mondays. The reasons for this are many-fold (get it? As opposed to just two-fold?), but let’s just say that I want a bit of a variety~ when it comes to makeup posts on here. Reviews are freaking awesome, but you know, what’s the point of hauling and swatching when no one can even see how you use the stuff? Will you learn anything new from these tutorials? Probably not. But you get to see me make a fool out of myself. For this week’s MTF Monday, I have a haphazard eye tutorial where you can upgrade a day look to a night look using the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. I think it’s useful and I take you step-by-step through it all. I hope it’s an OK video. Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement. I promise I won’t take offense, just as long as you don’t be a douche about it. I’d love to do close-ups but my camera …

TUTORIAL: Rose-Gold Eyes

Made another tutorial for this look! Used drugstore eyeshadow, so I’m sure it will be easier to recreate. If you like the video, please put a thumbs up. Let me know if you have any other requests for looks or videos because I quite like doing them, even if I look like I’m being forced at gunpoint to talk to y’all. 🙂 Products used: Snoe Beauty Let it B with WasaB (BB Cream) in Perfect Beige The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit (02) L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte & Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Natural Beauty Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Lydia Hope this helps!
