Sample Stash Sunday: too cool for school After School BB Foundation Lunchbox*

I got a sample of the too cool for school After School BB Foundation Lunchbox in 1 Matte in the July BDJ Box, and that’s awesome because I’ve been wanting to try it since I began exploring the brand. This skin match is just asking for trouble! Look how white it is against my skin tone. Still, I wanted to see if I could use it. Since I wanted to see just how drastic the difference in, here I am without makeup, aside from this on one side of my face: Surprise! It’s not so bad. 🙂 In fact, I think it blends in quite nicely with my skin and evens out my skin tone. My eyebags are hopeless, so I’m not even going to go there. Here I am with all of it blended out + the rest of my makeup: This was the look for my last Made-Up History post. I think this is a bit too pale for me, but it’s honestly nothing that a bit of bronzer can’t fix. I’ve got …

too cool for school’s Dinoplatz Pearl Bay Invasion in #1 Mother of Pearl

If you’re looking for a product to add a lit-from-within glow to your makeup base, this might be the answer! Or one of, anyway. The Dinoplatz Pearl Bay Invasion in #1 Mother of Pearl by too cool for school is a liquid illuminator that you can mix with your face base or use to highlight certain points. Product Description: “Radiant skin that seems like 100 of fluorescent lights turned on.” — Creates three-dimensional & natural skin through pearls by reflection & curve of light. — 7 ingredients that contain high moisture keep moisturizing skin for hours. — adheres to skin tightly and leaves smooth and refreshing feeling. I don’t know about the rest of its claims—I didn’t particularly feel like this moisturized my skin or refreshed it—but I can vouch for it creating a natural-looking dewiness. I only ever use this mixed in with my face base (1:2, illuminator:BB cream ratio) because the pump dispenses too much product for me to just use it on isolated parts of my face. I’m tempted to depot just …

Makeup Inventory: Highlighters & Illuminators

In one of my recent posts, I decried the hype of a cult favorite—the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade, which I reviewed here—and a number asked Well, what’s a good highlighter for you? I don’t own the most favorite one I’ve tried (I don’t know why), but I do own eight others (again, I don’t know why). I’ve been planning this for a while, and never got around to it, so I hope you appreciate the effort and I hope this short overview helps you out. 🙂 Let’s begin with the one I don’t own, but whose effect I loved—the NARS Illuminator in Orgasm. I received it as a sample, which dried up. I never got around to purchasing the full size, just because. Here it is, in action: It’s a really pretty, peachy-golden pink creamy highlighter that you can put on the “high planes of your face,” or just mix in with your face base. I thought I would hate the shimmer, but I really don’t. To be fair, it actually has more of …

Quickie: too cool for school Marshmallow Puff

Here’s one of the Beauty Blender dupes that have been released upon the world. Since I have no Beauty Blender myself, this isn’t necessarily a comparison post. I just wanted to share with you guys how this worked out for me. From what I can see in other people’s videos, though, these imitations don’t really “work” in the same way as Beauty Blenders do. From what I understand, wetting the Beauty Blender causes it to kind of expand. These don’t do that. They don’t seem to have the same kind of “bounciness” and softness as Beauty Blenders do either, so I don’t know how much that affects application and actual results. HOWEVER, these are pretty awesome at applying liquid application. Here’s an example of me using it with L’Oreal’s Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation: I think that’s kind of a decent job. No streaks or patchiness or anything like that. That’s a pretty good foundation job for something I got for $5. They are not that durable, though, the first one I got tore in the …

Mail Time: Too Cool for School Haul

Hello! Here’s another haul. I bought these items about three weeks ago and now they have come into my possession. Off the bat, I am very pleased with my purchases. I have some (color!) items that I have my eye on (again), but I’m holding off purchases right now. Anyway, I bought these products from Korea Depart, and they are a pleasure to do business with! As you may have read in my last post, I found out about Too Cool For School from Wiji of Dandelion Whiskers. I searched high and low for a retailer of this product and found Korea Depart! They carry a lot of Korean brands, too, and have reasonable shipping fees so go take a look. What I got for myself, L-R: Angel Hand Cream in Grapefruit, Dinoplatz Pearl Bay Invasion in Mother of Pearl (this is a luminizer), a Marshmallow Puff (a pretty good Beauty Blender dupe!), and Break Time Lip Tint Balm in Rose Dream. I especially like the Dinoplatz line because of the design and illustrations. Agh, …
