I wore this look recently to a birthday dinner. The pear-like qualities of ColourPop’s Sleigh is a little subtle—it’s described as an “icy sage”—but that’s OK. It lets me wear a pink as bright as Tom Ford’s Flamingo, which is a shade that I’m still not sure why I even bought. Here are swatches of the eyeshadows I used: Swatched, top to bottom: MAKE Khaki*, Rouge Bunny Rouge Abyssinian Catbird, ColourPop Sleigh Base/Face Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint (Medium), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Ethereal Light), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Mood Exposure) Lips Tom Ford Flamingo: I don’t know, you guys. I just can’t seem to really get into this lip color. I mean, it doesn’t look horrible or too garish, but I think that my aversion to purples and oranges switched on over to bright, medium pinks. I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS. And I hate that I bought this lipstick in this color, haha. Thoughts?! Sometimes I feel like my compulsion to shop is just that: a compulsion. I don’t need any other makeup thing, to tell you the truth. After I’ve filled my virtual cart with the things I think I need, I click out of the window and look through my stuff. I have a six-slot lipstick holder on my desk and I’ve taken to switching out lipsticks from my considerably bigger case in my big drawer to these slots so I can concentrate on my chosen ones. For April, these are the lipsticks that I’ve chosen.
I’ve been putting off this video for a really long time—like, unspeakably long—but now here it is! It’s a sped-up sort of GRWM with a voice-over that has a typical full-face routine. I’ve tried all of the 12-pan Naked palettes by Urban Decay, and I think that the Naked 3 is my favorite. I don’t think you get a lot of variety from it as it’s a pretty full-on rose obsession, but the looks I get with it are just always SO PRETTY. In the end, the face looks like this: I just realized that this video may have exposed my really shitty brow job, lol. It’s all good, though, because I don’t carve out my brows that much. I just follow the regular, “groomed~” shape and call it a day. I don’t think anyone in my immediate vicinity cares about eyebrows all that much anyway. I sure don’t. Hello! Long time no see. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but it’s been a while since I posted a new look/FOTD. It’s been a bit quiet on the makeup front over here, but mainly because I’ve really been taking care of so many other things. I hope y’all still remember me! /end dramatics Here’s a New Old Face face that I wore today. 🙂 It’s been similar to what I’ve been wearing the past few weeks, though I’ve only decided to wear more of my bold lip colors… pretty much now.
Quick update on the makeup-buying front: I’ve been purchase free in 2015! Yay. I set a one-item-a-month limit for myself this year, but I have yet to buy anything. 🙂 I’ve got my eye on a few palettes—predictably—but seeing as I have way too many already, I haven’t had any desire to actually spring for any of them. /pats self on the back. Seeing as I haven’t been buying anything new, I’ve begun digging around my current makeup ~collection~ (this word really makes me cringe), and I discovered some forgotten gems that I’ve been enjoying using lately! Here’s the first installment of “Recent Rediscoveries,” which is basically just me remembering awesome things that I’ve forgotten due to over-buying makeup. Oops.
My friend Chard’s tweet was about how it was sad that “basic” is now used to mean something negative, and I agree! I, for one, tend to go for mostly basics when it comes to clothes, and though I love colors in my make-up, I tend to reach for my basics the most. Anyway, here’s a basic face for ya. I had to do office stuff + bank stuff, so I obviously wasn’t going to wear vampy~ lips or a smoky eye. Haha. I mean, I could have, but I didn’t. So there.
Introducing New Old Face, in which I test out new products in conjunction with old favorites that I came back to. Here’s t first “New Old Face,” feat. NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows and a MAC Lustre Lipstick that has been a longstanding favorite. (I seriously don’t know why people don’t talk about this shade more often.) NEW BASES I’ve got a new base and concealer in use here: the Happy Skin Cosmetics Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser. The Happy Skin cream only comes in one shade, which was too light for my liking when I first got it a a few months ago, and I have the Maybelline concealer in Medium.
