The Lip Product Addict Tag

I am, by no means, a lip product addict… but I do like doing fun tags every once in a while. I have an okay relationship with lip products. I mean, they’re alright to hang out with and whip out and stuff, but I have never stared lovingly at a lip product like the way I do with palettes. It’s just not the same. ETA: OK, this video is cut off, so I’m reuploading it. Sorry for this dumb mistake and thanks to Zoë for mentioning something! ETA 2: YAY reuploaded! Ahem. The Lip Product Addict Tag was started by Amelia Liana and Estée on YouTube. Here are their questions, in case you want to give this a go, too: 1. Favourite balm/treatment? 2. Best eye-catching red? 3. Best luxury & best drugstore? 4. Best MAC lipstick? 5. The most disappointing? 6. Liner – yes or no? 7. Best gloss? 8. Something extra! And here is their original video. Let me know if you’ve done this tag (and paste your link in the comments!), or …

Recent Obsessions: SPF in Lip Products

When I was traveling around, I noticed that my lips would get more sore and chapped than they usually were. I attributed it to the cold, but also to sun exposure. I also saw quite a bit of lip products all around Japan that boasted of SPF. I didn’t want sun damage and the lips are a part of our body that we often forget to protect, which is why I picked up a few here and there. Except for the Dior Addict Lip Glow, I bought everything in the photo on that trip. I have two lip products by Ettusais, the Lip Essence N Stick (SPF 10) and the Lip Essence with hypergloss oil (SPF 18 PA++). From MUJI, I have the Medicated Lip Cream (SPF 12) and a tinted balm of sorts (SPF 13 PA++). I’ve been making it a habit to wear these under my lip products, which makes me feel less paranoid about their exposure to the sun. They’re all easy to reapply on-the-go, too. Lip Things from Laala

I got a bunch of lip products from that swap with Laala, and I thought I’d give a short p/review of sorts for each in this post. Here are the lip products, swatched on my arm: Swatched, L-R: NARS Satin Lipstick (Niagara), Dior Addict Lip Glow, Tarte Pure Performance Lipstick (Bold), MUA Power Pout (Runway), Vaseline Advanced Lip Therapy (Aloe) First up is the NARS SATIN LIPSTICK IN NIAGARA, which is actually a sort of hand-me-down from her. She said she couldn’t get it to work on herself, but when I saw swatches online, I knew it was the sort of color that’s right up my alley. 🙂 NARS describes Niagara as a “pink-based coral,” and it’s my first satin lipstick from NARS. It’s a beautiful light coral that’s perfect for spring. Here, I’ve paired it with a neutral eye with a mint accent.

OCC Lip Tar in Anita, Annika, Black Metal Dahlia, and OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss in Little Black Dress

Apart from the two Crème Colour Concentrates that I bought from my last OCC purchase, I also got three lip tars and a concealer (more on that later). Because of a Black Friday Promo, my cumulative purchases earned me a complimentary tube of my first OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss in Little Black Dress. Each of these little lip things come in a small resealable vinyl bag, which I think is a little wasteful—but I guess I get what it’s for—and a small lip brush. Lip Tars are highly pigmented lip colors that come in a little tube that you have to kind of paint on. I have two of these already and I always find them inconvenient to use if I have a long day out and would need to retouch. I mean, where do you put the lip brush? The bag solves this problem, but I’m surprised at this move by OCC, since it doesn’t seem to be a sustainable solution. I don’t believe my older lip tars came with them, which is …

Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Bauhaus

Here’s a more in-depth review of Bauhaus, a Kaleidoscope Lip Kit I got from the Le Métier de Beauté introductory box for August. I signed up late, so I got my first box late, but it was worth the wait. I have two other kaleidoscopes, a trademark product of LMdB, but they are both eye kits. This is my first lip kit, and although I was expecting an eyeshadow kaleidoscope, I fell in love with this, too. I think it’s mostly because the scent is exactly like the LMdB lip crèmes, which I love. This assured me that this would be a great product. Similar to the eye kits, the lip kits are comprised of four tiers of lipsticks. In this case, the consistency is that of a more solid lip crème, with the second shade being the most “goopy” of them all. The shades are as follows, from left to right: — Linaire: a lustrous gold-infused rose petal — Criterion: a gilded amber-peach — Esthetique: a shimmering vintage rose — Silhouette: a Cimmerian cloak …
