Hi everyone! I’m back from a (sorta) beach trip, which I hope explains the absence. I have been quite busy and then I jumped into a holiday, so. I guess that means I left y’all here. Ah! I was met with the BDJ Box for May 2014* when I got home from Puerto Galera. Thank you, BDJ Box Team! It was a sweet surprise. 🙂
For the past few months, we’ve been getting so much makeup, I didn’t know if I could handle any more of it (a lie), but I was so happy to see what we got for this month (not a lie)! May 2014’s theme is Summer Radiance. I think it’s kind of a stretch, since I got a strange, albeit great, mishmash of products. I think they all serve their own purpose, theme or no theme.
The first most noticeable full-size item is the too cool for school Pumpkin Sleeping Pack (Php 689, 100ml). I’m not quite sure how to use it, but it’s an overnight treatment that’s supposed to make you wake up to glowing skin. The two other full-size items are the Dermal Sheet Masks (Php 140, 2 sheets), which I blogged about before. I got the Bee Venom and SYN-AKE variants this time around. I’m kind of terrified of using the SYN-AKE one (there is a large photo of a cobra on the packet), but I’ll persevere in the name of beauty and all that.
This month seems like it might be sachet central, but they’re all generous offerings. There is a box of sachets containing 12 packets each of the Godiva Lico White Whitening Lotion (Php 120, 100ml) and the Gociva Lico White Antiperspirant Deodorant (Php 79, 40ml). I gave both to my sister since I don’t use whitening products (though this lotion has some SPF in it) and I stopped wearing deodorant a few months ago. There were also a bunch of sachets from Organix—3 shampoo/conditioner sets each of the Moroccan Argan Oil (with 2 packets of the oil itself), Biotin and Collagen, and Keratin Oil treatments (Php 499, each 13oz. bottle; Php 499 for 3.3 oz. of oil).
Last, but not the least, I got two nail lacquers from the Revlon ColorStay Nail Enamel range. They’re supposed to be long-wearing. It looks like I got two cream polishes, a pale yellow (100 Buttercup) and a bright orange (110 Marmalade). I have never tried the Revlon polishes before, but I hope they’re great. I don’t really have nail polish that’s not CF, so I’ll let you know how these hold up against what I have.
And then there was an influx of coupons. There’s a coupon for a free bra from Avon, some bucks off Bifesta and Lúcido-L products, free add-ons from I Do Nails, 50% off some procedures at Dr. CRB and a free makeover voucher from Professional Artist Cosmetics or PAC.
All in all, I think, this is a great and useful box. I don’t know how I would feel if I paid for it; though honestly, I’m just super happy about the too cool for school mask. I clearly have lofty expectations for life and happiness. The BDJ Box is Php 580/month, though you can subscribe for 1, 3 or 6 months. A 3-month sub costs Php 1700, while a 6-month sub costs Php 3300. I think it’s a small price to pay if you have a limited budget but you like small beauty surprises every now and then. You can treat yo’self and give away the stuff you won’t use as a gesture of goodwill to other people who might enjoy them more than you. Win-win, right?
Did you order the BDJ Box this month? What did you think about it?
