Some Pixy Picks*

Not too long ago, BDJ Box released a Pixy exclusive and it was chock-full of Pixy products. Pixy—with a 'y'—is a new Indonesian brand that's set to grace Philippine drugstores soon. It is fairly cheap, so I was obviously curious about the quality of these products.

I was sent these items, from the box, so I thought I would do a short review on some of the items. Maybe this could be a guide to the products, in case you wanted to pick any of them up when they are finally unleashed to the beauty masses.

First up, which I know y'all want to know about are… the lipsticks! I got three, each in a different finish: satin, semi-matte, and matte:

BDJ Box - April - Pixy - Lipstick Swatches

To be honest, the matte was not very matte. As you can see from the swatches, it still has a strong sheen to it. My favorite finish was the satin, followed by the matte. The semi-matte was okay, but not the best. Also, I think that the color (which I don't think suits me) didn't help its case. Sorry, semi-matte.

Pixy - Autumn Apricot

Here's the satin lipstick in Autumn Apricot. I love this formula, and I think I might love this color the most on me, too. I think it took me a while to figure out that pink isn't really my color, when it comes to lipsticks. I think it has a tendency to look drab, though, so I think I'll have to think about the makeup I wear with this shade.

Pixy - Haruka

Next up is the semi-matte lipstick in Haruka, the coolest, pinkest of them all. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with this lipstick; I think I'm just not sure about the color. The formula of this is close to that of the Pixy matte.

Pixy - Pink Smoothie

Last, but not the least, it's the matte lipstick in Pink Smoothie, a slightly warmer, more coral pink than Haruka. I think this applies a bit patchy, but the color builds up. This is definitely more “me” as far as pinks go.

In the box, we also received 3 powders. This first one is the Ultimate Makeup Cake in Peach Beige. I think this is the best shade match for me. Pixy claims that it can be used as base or finishing powder, for covering flaws and smoother-looking skin. Also that it's oil-absorbing!

Sephora Pantone Face Palette - Face 2I used it alone, applied on clean skin with a kabuki brush. I quite like the finish and look of it. At Php 445 (around $10), this is already the most expensive item in the box.

Last for today is the Pixy Blush On in Carnation Bloom 06. This is a decent blush and deposits quite a lot of pigment and glow.

OW NARSissist - Face 2I do find the brush that it comes with pretty useless, but it's a great drugstore blush. It's a little chalky, but nothing seriously bad about it. The color is nice for spring and summer, too!

So, final thoughts for this installment of Pixy picks:

  • It's a great addition to the drugstore lineup here in Manila
  • The products are great quality, especially for the price. I think I would buy the satin and matte lipsticks and powder at regular price.

I think I may do a second part (feat. the two other powders, the eyeliner, and mascara). Let me know if that's something you would be interested in seeing.

* PR Sample. I have no information regarding Pixy's animal testing policy.

  1. I think all the lipsticks look good on you, but I particularly like the last one! 🙂 The peach one doesn’t look drab at all!
