Not too long ago, BDJ Box released a Pixy exclusive and it was chock-full of Pixy products. Pixy—with a 'y'—is a new Indonesian brand that's set to grace Philippine drugstores soon. It is fairly cheap, so I was obviously curious about the quality of these products.
I was sent these items, from the box, so I thought I would do a short review on some of the items. Maybe this could be a guide to the products, in case you wanted to pick any of them up when they are finally unleashed to the beauty masses.
First up, which I know y'all want to know about are… the lipsticks! I got three, each in a different finish: satin, semi-matte, and matte:
To be honest, the matte was not very matte. As you can see from the swatches, it still has a strong sheen to it. My favorite finish was the satin, followed by the matte. The semi-matte was okay, but not the best. Also, I think that the color (which I don't think suits me) didn't help its case. Sorry, semi-matte.
Here's the satin lipstick in Autumn Apricot. I love this formula, and I think I might love this color the most on me, too. I think it took me a while to figure out that pink isn't really my color, when it comes to lipsticks. I think it has a tendency to look drab, though, so I think I'll have to think about the makeup I wear with this shade.
Next up is the semi-matte lipstick in Haruka, the coolest, pinkest of them all. Like I said, there's nothing wrong with this lipstick; I think I'm just not sure about the color. The formula of this is close to that of the Pixy matte.
Last, but not the least, it's the matte lipstick in Pink Smoothie, a slightly warmer, more coral pink than Haruka. I think this applies a bit patchy, but the color builds up. This is definitely more “me” as far as pinks go.
In the box, we also received 3 powders. This first one is the Ultimate Makeup Cake in Peach Beige. I think this is the best shade match for me. Pixy claims that it can be used as base or finishing powder, for covering flaws and smoother-looking skin. Also that it's oil-absorbing!
Last for today is the Pixy Blush On in Carnation Bloom 06. This is a decent blush and deposits quite a lot of pigment and glow.
So, final thoughts for this installment of Pixy picks:
- It's a great addition to the drugstore lineup here in Manila
- The products are great quality, especially for the price. I think I would buy the satin and matte lipsticks and powder at regular price.
I think I may do a second part (feat. the two other powders, the eyeliner, and mascara). Let me know if that's something you would be interested in seeing.
* PR Sample. I have no information regarding Pixy's animal testing policy.
