The Illamasqua Precision Ink in Wisdom is a product that I wish I used more. I ordered it a few months ago and I’m a little ashamed to admit that it hasn’t seen the outside world that much yet because it got lost in all of my
makeup hoarding recent acquisitions.
This long-wearing liquid liner comes with a fine tip that allows for defined application, making it perfect for creating a defined eye—or even painting designs on the body. The waterproof formula dries within seconds and stays true for hours.
So, I want to bring your attention to the tip. It’s awesome for application because it’s quite stiff, so it doesn’t really flex much and bend all over the place. You can’t get a super fine line with it, but it’s a thin enough line for me, and I’ve found that I prefer this type of applicator over the thin, bendy brushes from the likes of e.l.f.’s liquid eyeliner (review) or Le Métier de Beauté’s Indelible Inks (review). I love this so much!
Wisdom is a deep sage green with quite a bit of sparkle, but it’s described as an “antiqued gold.” The formula is a little thick; it reminds me of the LMdB’s Indelible Inks. You can kind of move it around before it sets, too:
This can work as a sheer top or base coat for adding a bit more complexity to your eye makeup. 🙂 You can see the sparkle I was talking about better in this swatch, I think. If you don’t sheer it out, it dries down to a waterproof, sort of vinyl-y strip that crumbles up when you remove it (with a makeup remover) and is a little irritating because the particles can get into your eye if you’re not careful. Other than that, I’m quite in love with it.
Because of my eyelids, you can’t really see it all that well when my eyes are opened, and the color is dark enough to pass off as a black liner, from a distance.
It applies cleanly. The smudging is due to my subpar mascara skills. As you can see, it’s more green than gold on me. The color payoff is gorgeous and it’s true to its claims of longevity. This didn’t budge from 12nn to around midnight without fading, which is insane, given my stupid oily eyelids.
Overall, I love this a lot. I just have to remember that I have it so I use it more often!
Illamasqua is cruelty-free.
