An overview of my current concealer products. In case you have no idea what these do, concealers hide our blemishes, red spots, acne, and dark circles. They do almost nothing to your bags. I mean, let’s be real. No matter how much concealer you put on a surface that it not flat, the protrusion will cause a shadow.
Like Krysty, I don’t really like hiding my bags because lighter concealers emphasize them and make them look baggier, or at least more noticeable. I think my issue is more on the ‘puffy’ side than ‘dark circles,’ so when I conceal under my eyes, I keep my expectations in check. Of course the puffs will show when I smile! The best thing I’ve ever done about that is come to terms with it. But that’s neither here nor there!
I have found a favorite to use, however! Can you guess which one I like the best? 🙂
THE BODY SHOP TEA TREE CONCEALER (02)
I think this might be my pinkest shade. I used this on my under eye area, and I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. So I stashed it away never to be seen again, except I did see it again. Then I tried to warm up the product with my fingers before application, and this is pretty much awesome to use on my scars and blemishes because it’s so close to my skin tone.
(Used on dark circles & blemishes; set with a light dusting of mineral foundation.)
K-PALETTE 0 KUMA COVER CONTROL CONCEALER (02 YELLOW BEIGE)
Holy grail status here! I use this mostly for brightening under the eye and concealing the dark circles. It’s way too light and yellow for blemishes. Sometimes, I feel like it looks a bit too chalky and powdery on me, but I found that if I warmed the product up between my fingers first, it works 10x better.
(Used on under eye area. Blemishes concealed with Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer.)
BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX CONCEALER (53 DARK RADIANCE)
This stuff is awesome. I think this might be the best shade match for me, to cover my blemishes. The best part is that I can use it on my dark circles, too. My only qualm about this is its staying power. This rubs off pretty quickly, even after setting with a loose powder such as bareMinerals’ Mineral Veil.
The Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer makes it stay a little bit longer, but not much. Which is a pity, because it’s honestly such good stuff.
(Used on blemishes and under eye area.)
BLOOM SECRET WEAPON CONCEALER KIT (FAIR/MEDIUM)
I bought this on a whim, mostly because it looks like this when you open it up:
Rarely ever use this because the coverage is quite paltry, and the consistency of the product is not that ideal. It’s not a totally bad product; I think it just doesn’t suit my skin—both in type and tone. The colors are a little too cool for me and the texture is too slippery… I feel like it makes me look ashy:
In theory, it’s awesome, but if most of the shades are unusable in actual on-the-go practice, then it fails in that regard. I find that using an actual concealer brush, instead of the useless one it comes with or your fingers, increases my good opinion of this product, though not enough that I’d go to it when I need concealing.
(Used on blemishes & under-eye area for concealing & brightening.)
COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER (3)
This is the darkest shade I’ve seen ’round these parts, and it still feels too light for me upon application. It later settles into a better shade match, but not until after it’s done shocking you with how light it is.
Honestly, I don’t get the hype. Perhaps it’s because I don’t really conceal that much. My sister is a concealer nut and she’s not super impressed, but she likes it alright.
(Used on under eyes and blemishes.)
And, those are my concealers! I’m so tempted to pick up Le Métier de Beauté’s Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer and NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I know that I have way too much right now to even consider trying those. I ran into the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer this weekend, and was seriously amazed at a) the coverage, b) the lasting power, and c) the overall texture & feel:
What are your favorite concealers? 🙂
Bourjois and Collection are not cruelty-free.
