MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Elegant Accent

MAC - Mineralize Lipstick - Elegant Accent

The MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks are “a 77-Mineral Moist Complex that instantly nourishes lips with maximum moisture in a lightweight, non-sticky formula. Larger bullet applies bright, long lasting colour in a single stroke. Medium shine finish, buildable coverage. Magnetic closure.”

Apparently its magnetic closure is something to note. It’s actually kind of cool, I must admit, and it seems to have a stronger magnetic attraction than that of the Guerlain lipsticks, which makes me feel better about throwing these in a bag, than I do when I throw those. But enough about that!

I selected a shade called Elegant Accent, which looks like a deep, pinky coral on the website swatch, but is described as a “mid-tonal warm rose cream.” I bought this shade based on many, many swatch comparisons online, and it seemed to be the color that attracted me the most.

MAC - Elegant Accent - Face Unfortunately, it pulls a little pink on me. It’s not a bad color; it just wasn’t what I was looking for. If you noticed, I don’t really use a lot of pink lip colors. I usually like them and how they look, but if it’s not old rose, or like a dusty pink or a pinky coral, I probably won’t really get on with it all that well.

Elegant Accent actually looks like a cool-toned pink on me, which is weird. Maybe my face is too warm for this? Who really knows. I think that I don’t know how to wear pinks all that well, but maybe this will change that and allow me to figure out how. 🙂

The lipstick formula itself is very, very creamy. I find it to have a little bit more slip than I’d like, but the formula is definitely very much buildable if you want a bit more opacity. It doesn’t apply patchily or anything like that, but the formula is not a thick, thick cream like say, a creamsheen would be.

Wear time is average for glossier, creamier formulas, which is to say between three to five hours, give or take. It doesn’t really cling to dry patches on the lips and I didn’t experience any noticeable dryness.

I think for this lipstick formula, maybe the deeper, vampier colors, or the nudes would be the best shades to pick.

Have you picked any of these up? How are you liking them?

  1. Oooh. It’s so pretty! I was at two different MAC stores today looking for Style Surge, but they’re all sold out. =/ Gonna keep trying.

  2. I’m also not such a fan of pink on my lips unless it’s a very brown-y rose shade. I guess it’s a skin tone thing. 🙂 Also I had no idea that the Mineralize lipsticks had a magnetic closure! So cool!

    • Yeah, same here, or something fairly light and muted. I dunno why, maybe it’s skin tone nga!

    • Ha! You are too kind. 🙂 I really like them a lot, too. I don’t like how the packaging isn’t space-economical, though they are quite cool.

    • Go try it! I’ve seen the mineralize lipsticks at MAC counters na. 🙂 Also, I’m actually not sure, but I doubt I used it because this was an “in the house, take blog photos” day, LOL and I just wear Hourglass when I go out.

I should go back to listing my makeup in all my posts!
