Draw on a pretty pout with Addiction’s Lip Crayon in Day Trip

Addiction by Ayako - Lip Crayon - Day Trip - Crayon

I originally had my eye on three lip crayons. Aside from Day Trip, I wanted to get Spy Pink and Endlessly, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get more than one Lip Crayon (like a dumb ass) so I ended up with what I think is a happy medium.

Addiction by Ayako - Lip Crayon - Day Trip - Crayon Tip

Day Trip is a muted coral beige (in my opinion). It’s a light brown, but very warm with a tiny bit coral. I swatched this together with Spy Pink, which is a pale pink, and Endlessly, which is a pretty straight-up nude. This felt like it would suit my skin tone better, so I went with this.

These remind me a lot of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, but they did away with the hassle of sharpening. Addiction Lip Crayons come in a plastic, twist-up tube for easy application. My experience with both have been similar, in that they are not drying on the lips at the time of application. I find that NARS VMLPs tend to dry up a bit while you wear them.

Addiction by Ayako - Lip Crayon - Day Trip - Swatch

Here is a small swatch of Day Trip. It looks very unassuming, I know, but I rather like this shade on my lips.

Addiction by Ayako - Lip Crayon - Day Trip - Face I’ve been quite bored with deep colors (I think, at least in terms of shopping), so I skipped over those, although I must admit that Saffron is a beautiful color. Paprika is something I had my eye on as well, but I’ve discovered that I can’t wear warm oranges and reds all that well.

Addiction Lip Crayons apply effortlessly well, and it’s such a fuss-free product that I wish there had been more shades that were interesting enough for me to get. The shade is easily workable with a great variety of makeup looks, so that’s a plus.

I thought the color reminded me a lot of Celebrity Beige from the shu uemura x Karl Lagerfeld collaboration, but this pulls a bit more orange and does not have a trace of shimmer. MAC Jubilee is a lot more nude, as is Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait in Avarice, which is closer in color to Jubilee, but a tad rosy.

Day Trip seems to bring out a bit of the yellow in my teeth, but not in a sad, gross way. I would like to pick more of these up when they expand the shade range, since I understand that these Lip Crayons are a bit new to their product line.

What I’m wearing: L’Oreal Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation (N5), The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02), Maquillage Eye Color N (RD 734), shu uemura eyeshadow (ME medium brown 885), Addiction Cheek Stick (Revenge), Addiction Lip Crayon (Day Trip)

Addiction Lip Crayons retail for ¥2415 (with tax) or $24.26. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils retail for $25. Not much of a difference, as you can see. 🙂

I currently do not know if Addiction tests on animals, and have reached out to their official Twitter page to ask, though I have not gotten an answer. I’ve Googled around a bit and it seems like Addiction’s parent company, Kosé, tests so it’s safe to assume that Addiction tests on animals as well.
